My evil explanation of their obsession with shoes is that their dress size goes up and down all the time, but shoe size always stays the same. Whether they are 100 lbs or 130lbs or even 230lbs, when they walk into a shoe store, they feel confident. They know for sure that their feet are going to fit into that pair of shoes. They have no fear of rejection; they know they don’t have to look into the mirror of a fitting room, wondering “Does these pants make my butt look fat?”; and later on when they pull their shoes out of their closet, they won’t have to go through the ordeal of thinking and actually finding out “Can I still zip up my slim jeans?”
But again, these things are just things we see on the outside. What really appeals to us is what’s underneath all these glamour–a city so chic that you can find anything and everything; a city that’s always full of opportunities; a city where impossible becomes possible, a city where you might be pleasantly surprised at each and every corner. And women who live in this city: they are independent and sophisticated with good tastes; they love exploring new things (even if they are just new restaurants and bars); they are half way there finding themselves; they know what they want out of their life. All in all, they are the one in charge of their life. Not anybody else.
